Reading table column header

Forums:

I'm about to prepare XML data for DAISY pipeline. Do DAISY players distinguish between normal table cells and table column cells? I mean: Do they treat table/tbody/tr/td differently compared to table/thead/tr/th ? Or do I have to create another XML/XHTML structure? Would a DAISY player be able to combine the content of a "td" with the associated "th" of the table column?

You may prepare the XML as per the DAISY 3 specifications for tables. Different DAISY players e.g. dedicated hardware, apps for android/iOS, Windows may vary in their support for all elements. However, the best you can do is to include as much semantic information as possible. Note that the DAISY book may also be read using screen readers which are better at reading and navigating within a table.
