Report

This training course focused on NCC only production using MyStudio PC and Sigtuna DAR 3 and full text production using Sigtuna DAR 3.

There were 16 participants including 4 visually impaired in this training representing 11 different organizations. The training was conducted for 5 days.

Most of the participants were able to create at least 3 different DTBs during this training. For the final project, participants brought their own material and produced either NCC only project or Full text project. In the training, most of the topics planned before the training were covered.

Since most of the participants had difficulty understanding in English, almost all the lecture was done by Prashant in Urdu (Hindi). Fortunately, we did not need any interpretation in this way, we were able to cover almost what we planned.

Report

This training course focused on NCC only production using Sigtuna DAR 3 for those participated in the Focal Point Training in September 2006. It was organized by DAISY Forum of Pakistan and held at Al Maktoom Special Education Center for Visually Handicapped Children.

There were 10 participants including 3 visually impaired representing 6 different organizations. Even though this training targeted the former participants of the Focal Point Training, there were 5 new participants in this training. For this reason, the training was conducted for 4 days instead of its original plan of 3 days.

The 1st and 2nd days were allocated for the new participants to understand the basic procedure for creating a NCC only DTB with help from former participants. In this way, new participants spent their time creating basic NCC only DTB and the former participants were able to recap the procedure of creating a NCC only DTB by helping the new participants.

Other days were allocated to produce their own projects using the materials which were brought to the training. Also, in order to produce a valid DAISY DTBs, the usage of validator and regenerator and some problem solving questions and answeres were covered during the training. At the end of the training, all of the participants produced the valid DAISY NCC only DTBs and brought confidence to start the DAISY production back to their own organization.
